I am highly qualified in Secondary Language Arts, and my Alabama teaching certifications include: a BS in Elementary Education (Dec 1996), a middle school endorsement in Language Arts 6-8 (Aug 1997), and a Master's degree as a Special Education Collaborative Teacher 6-12 (May 2005). I came to ECHS in 2005 with seven years prior teaching experience in both private and public schools. I love the friendly and caring atmosphere of this school... the great teachers and support staff, their commitment to excellence--and of course (most of all) the students. My past eight years here at ECHS have been wonderful, and I will always try to make each next year even better! I personally strive to stay involved in improving our high school and school system by participating as a contributing member to several committees and by serving as a mentor teacher to new teachers in our system and collegiate teacher apprentices, and facilitating Future Teachers of Alabama, a teacher aide elective credit. As well, I am constantly seeking helpful new websites and excelling resources for the students and faculty of Elmore County High School.
I promise to continue to seek the best ways to help your child succeed in every area of growth-- academically, personally, and socially. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.
ELMORE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL ROCKS!
"When you are doing what you love to do and believe it makes a difference in a child's life, then you have the best job in the world!"
A little history... my mom, three brothers, and one sister live in Ohio, where I was born. I have one more brother, who lives in Texas. I have lived in Alabama for the past 30+ years--most of them in Prattville (where I still reside - and yes, I believe it's worth the drive!). I have two sons- Paul -26 and Thomas -25. My eldest child, Ricky, will be forever three years old.
To keep a "promise" made to my God, I am a lead cantor in my church, and sing weekly with our choir at the 8:00 a.m. mass. For fun, I truly enjoy watching the antics of my two cats, Pixie and Andy, working and gaming with on-line friends on my computer, and searching for excellent educational resources.
I have also previously enjoyed many years of dressmaking, sewing, fine arts, and crafting, but find that my time for these hobbies is now too scarce.
My music tastes are very "eclectic," (little joke!) but I particularly like Celtic, Folk, classical, "oldies" rock, and even several of the New Age artists.
Go Class of 2014!
