National English Honor Society

The National English Honor Society is an organization that recognizes excellence in the field of English Language Arts and serves to foster literacy in the community. Our local chapter of the NEHS is the Epsilon Chi Sigma chapter. In order to be invited into membership, students must be enrolled in advanced English classes and earn all A's and B's in those classes, be at least a sophomore, and maintain an overall  3.0 GPA. Some service projects undertaken by the NEHS chapter at ECHS are reading at the preschool, playing Scrabble at the Eclectic Senior Center, collecting and donating books throughout the community, helping with AR tests at Eclectic Elementary School, and assisting the Elmore County Reading Council. The society members also hold an induction ceremony annually as well as participate in literacy events such as trips to the Alabama Shakespeare Festival.
