Mu Alpha Theta

     Mu Alpha Theta is an organization whose primary purpose is to stimulate the interest in mathematics by providing public recognition of superior mathematical scholarship and by promoting various mathematical opportunities. Active members are high school students in grades 10 through 12 who have completed Advanced Algebra I and Advanced Geometry in addition have completed or are enrolled in more advanced courses. These students are eligible for membership providing the mathematical work was done with distinction on a 4 point grading scale. This shall mean at least a 3.5 grade point average.

     Associate members are high school students who have completed two semesters of Advanced Algebra I with distinction and are currently enrolled in Advanced Geometry. Associate members are not members of Mu Alpha Theta but are likely candidates for membership.

     Associate and active members are required to tutor for non-profit a minimum of 8 hours per year as assigned by club officials. If a member receives a "D" or "F" in any math class, he or she is automatically removed from Mu Alpha Theta.
